Playing in the sun

The weather is getting hot and Davis is loving the outdoors. If he had his way we'd never go inside. I'm getting VERY excited about taking him camping as that seems to be the culmination of all his favorite things lately. But for now, staying in town is providing plenty of fun new activities. Davis loves watering the plants, with the hose or the pink elephant watering can. He's actually getting really good at it and can water several plants in a row without making any mess at all. He's quite the clown sometimes and i love it when i can catch his funny faces on camera. Nana recently got him a baby pool and a crab sandbox, which he's very excited about! So now the back yard is officially a fun place to spend the day. We have also been spending some time up at Jason's new house where they have an amazing in-ground pool and garden/backyard. It's like stepping into a resort and Davis couldn't love it any more than he does. When we go over there, he goes straight for the pool and does everything he can to get into that water. He's definitely a fish like his dad and thanks to Jason and Dave, we now have a special private place to swim anytime. I think this is going to be a wonderful summer.

Spending some QT with uncle Scott while he's in town on his way out West.

Mothers Day/ My Birthday

Spending the beautiful morning in Evergreen, we had brunch with the family to celebrate Mother's Day and my birthday. Kelly made me an amazing chocolate crepe dulce de leche cake, and we had a great time visiting. Davis wasn't too interested in trying the cake, but he sure did love all the attention. :) Because it was an overcast day, we didn't get to go for a hike, but it was a nice cozy cabin day regardless.

Hip Hip Hooray

We have a lot to celebrate lately. Davis said his first word (Ella) on Friday, 5/4. We've always wondered what his first word would be and this seems so perfectly fitting for him. He and Ella have a great relationship which includes lots of pets, cuddles, sharing food and tons of kisses. He gets so excited when he sees her and she obviously loves him too and is never very far from his side. We have another big milestone as of last night. Davis took his first few steps...on my birthday! I couldn't have asked for a better gift. Kelly was holding his hands and walking him through the house, when they stopped in front of me, Kelly slowly let go and Davis took eight steps before sitting down. We were SO excited. We were able to get him to do it one more time before he got tired of performing for us and just wanted to play with his legos. :) It's amazing to think about how far he's come in the last 4 months and what an amazing little boy we have. He's growing up so fast and doing so well. I can't wait to see what he'll do/say next. Davis, you're an amazing miracle and we love you very much.

Big Day at the Zoo

Nana and Papa took Davis to the zoo for the day. They all had a great time and Davis seemed to like the Penguins best of all because they were so active and entertaining. It was a really warm day so they even stopped to have some frozen yogurt together. YUM!

Wedding in the Windy City

Last weekend we took a fun trip out to Chicago for a college friend's wedding. This was the third trip we've taken with Davis and just as before, he did a great job. With a little milk, some snacks and a few long naps, we were landing already and he was waking up to experience the big city. Nana traveled with us to watch Davis while we were at wedding activities which was an amazing help and made Davis feel much better about mom and dad being gone at night. We stayed in a beautiful hotel downtown and had a wonderful time. It was so great to see college friends and introduce Davis to their kids. On our last day we drove to see bisnonna (my grandma) and see family in town. Davis adapted pretty well to all the changes in location & nap schedules. He was a bit more attached to me than normal, but I always look forward to extra Davis cuddles. When we got back to our house in Denver, it was sunny and warm and Davis was visibly excited to be back at home...and to see Ella again.
