Back to His 'Old' Self
After a tough week of the whole family being sick, we're trying to get healthy again. We all got the same bug that Davis had, which gave us a bad cough and lots of congestion...no fun. Luckily, Davis is back to being himself again and Mom and Dad are nearly there. Since coming out of his sickness he has had a voracious appetite. I don't know where he puts all that milk! As you can see from the pictures Davis is now smiling up a storm. He has been very happy and is making a larger variety of sounds. He is most interactive when you put him on the bed in our bedroom and loves the whale sounds on his soothing sounds sheep. He has been having a great time spending some of his days with Nana while mom is at work. Davis has been showing her how to navigate the neighborhood on their walks and is working with her on becoming an expert in parallel parking.

Some good news and some bad
Well, Davis had a pretty good visit with the cardiologist today. He now weighs 10lbs 10oz and is 23in long. On the premature male growth charts, that puts him in the 40th percentile. On the full term male growth charts he's in the 4th percentile, but at least he's on the chart! The doctor and nutritionist both praised us for all our hard work and said he's looking great. The bad news is that he has a cough that seems to be getting worse. So he had 2 chest x-rays which showed a little fluid in his abdomen. Dr. Jone didn't seem too alarmed by this but told us to give him an extra dose of lasix (which flushes out fluids) tonight. His blood oxygen levels were also hovering around 80, which is too low (should be around 90). She said this is probably due to him fighting this virus and told us to up his oxygen level for a while to compensate. His two medication prescriptions were also raised due to his increased weight. So we don't have to go back for another month, but now we're fighting off this virus which I seem to have also caught. Chances are that Kelly will have it soon as well. It was great to have both my parents at the appointment with us today and they provided lots of support. When we finally finished up, we met Jason for lunch in the cafeteria which is always nice and we all laughed histerically together. Davis was such a good baby throughout the entire day, and then slept through our lunch. :) What a guy. So now we're just focusing on getting him feeling better and then long term, getting off the oxygen. But no one seems to be in any rush to do that since it's really supporting his lung function for now. Wish us luck!

Tomorrow is a big day
Tomorrow we have an appointment with Dr Jone, our Cardiologist at Children's Hospital. This will be our first apt with her in a month, so we're excited to see how much he weighs, how long he is now, and how she thinks he's doing. We have been working hard on getting Davis bigger, and feel that he's very healthy and happy lately. He's enjoying walks around the neighborhood in the stroller or the carrier, spending lots of time with Nana now that I'm back at work part-time, and he still loves his baths. :) We love the fact that he's smiling a lot lately and trying his best to talk, which is really a bunch of adorable baby noises. It's almost as if he's testing out his voice to see what sounds he can make. He's also making good progress in the sleep department and is currently waking 0-2 times a night. He's slept through the night several times which is very exciting and we're hoping to see more of this as time goes on. Stay tuned for an update tomorrow!
